In 1996, Clark County spearheaded the eight-week program to expose underserved youth in the community to a variety of career fields. Over time, the program was expanded to serve a diverse student population.
The SBI Program serves as a device to expose inner-city and suburban youth to career fields that they might otherwise not have access to or envision for themselves. This year’s institute will be held from early June through mid to late August. The program strives to pair selected applicants with professionals in various industries to enable them to gain valuable hands-on experience. It also assists youth with college preparation and teaches financial literacy, and life skills. Students will walk away with on-the-job experience, valuable workshop knowledge and the opportunity for monetary bonuses through the program.
This summer, the Clark County Summer Business Institute (SBI) Program will secure 75 opportunities for qualifying Clark County high school students ranging from rising juniors, seniors, and incoming freshmen by June 9, 2025.
This is the 29th year that Clark County has sponsored the SBI Program offering teens employment opportunities in a variety of fields, including law, medicine, architecture, education, and communications.
