Meet Countess - (County for short!), the Clark County Fire Department's Ignitable Liquid Detection Canine. She worked extensively on the massive construction fire at a housing complex in southwest Las #Vegas. Countess can detect 60 ignitable liquids and accelerants.
Countess and her handler spent a couple of weeks combing the rubble. The two and a half year old black lab alerted on 6 possible items in her investigation. Those were then sent off to the laboratory for analysis. An exact cause of the fire that did $90 million in damage wasn't able to be determined. The fire started (the origin) on the roof of one of the buildings
.Countess has become a vital part of CCFD and their investigations into fires. When she's not at work, her handler says she's a great family dog. But Countess knows when it's time to do her duty. Great work by our 4 legged firefighter!
